There’s a particular kind of magic in the turning of a season. As the light softens and the air begins to carry that first hint of crispness, nature offers us a living lesson: even the fullest bloom eventually surrenders, and in that surrender, something wiser takes root.
This fall, the cosmos seems to be underscoring that same lesson.
The Energy of the Season
The Fall Equinox on September 22nd marks a moment of perfect balance — equal parts light and dark, doing and being. It’s a natural checkpoint to pause and ask: Where in my life have I been living out of balance? Where has “doing” crowded out “being”?
Just days before, on September 17th, Chiron — the wounded healer — turns retrograde into Aries. Chiron’s placement often points to where our deepest, oldest wounds live, and its movement into the sign of the self and new beginnings invites us to revisit old stories about our worth, our courage, and our right to take up space — not to reopen the wound, but to finally let it heal from the inside out.
Then, as October unfolds, we meet a rare pairing: Venus turns retrograde on October 3rd, moving backward from Scorpio into Libra, followed by Mercury retrograde beginning October 24th, moving through Scorpio. Together, these transits ask us to slow down and look honestly at our relationships, our values, and the truths we may have been avoiding. Scorpio energy doesn’t do small talk — it wants depth, honesty, and transformation. Expect old relational patterns, unspoken feelings, or unresolved connections to resurface for a final round of healing.
Meanwhile, Pluto stations direct on October 15th after months of retrograde motion in Aquarius, signaling that the deep collective shifts many of us have been quietly working through can now begin moving forward again — this time with more clarity and intention.
Taken together, it’s a season asking us to feel before we fix, to release before we rebuild.
Spiritual Alignment Practices for the Season
Here are a few practices to support you as you move through this potent transition:
1. Heart-Centered Coherence As Venus and Mercury turn inward, so should we. A few minutes of HeartMath-style coherence breathing each morning — slow, heart-focused breath paired with a feeling of appreciation or ease — helps regulate the nervous system and keeps you anchored in your heart’s wisdom rather than swept into the mental noise these retrogrades can stir up.
2. Release Rituals Autumn is nature’s season of shedding. Consider a simple ritual: write down what you’re ready to release — an old belief, a resentment, a version of yourself you’ve outgrown — and safely burn or bury the paper as the equinox passes. Let the earth hold what you no longer need to carry.
3. Reiki for Emotional Processing With Chiron and Scorpio energy stirring up old emotional terrain, a Reiki session (self-practice or with a practitioner) can help move stagnant energy, especially through the heart and sacral centers, supporting gentle emotional release rather than overwhelm.
4. Intuitive Check-Ins As Mercury retrograde clouds outward communication, turn inward instead. Spend a few quiet moments each day asking your higher self a simple question “Who am I?” Listening, journaling, meditation, or a walk in nature all create space for intuitive downloads to surface.
5. Grounding Through Movement Gentle movement practices help discharge nervous energy and keep prana flowing smoothly, which is especially supportive when retrograde season tends to make things feel “stuck.”
A Season of Sacred Slowness
If this fall feels a little heavier, a little more introspective, or a little slower than you expected — that’s not a sign something’s wrong. It’s an invitation. The planets are asking us to pause, feel, and heal what’s ready to be healed, so that when the forward motion resumes, we move with more clarity, coherence, and heart.
May this season bring you the courage to release what no longer serves you, and the grace to welcome what’s ready to bloom next.
With love, peace and light, Jennifer 💓🌅🫶
